Faking Spring

 photo DSCN1324_zpse074d86b.jpg
Pants: H&M [$7]
Shirt: Banana Republic via Goodwill [maybe 65 cents? We'll round up, let's say 75 cents]
Camisole: F21 [$3]
Shoes: Sketchers [$20]
Earrings: F21 [$1.50]
------------------------------
Total Cost: $32.25

It wasn't exactly the most Spring-like of days, but I'll take this sunshine to mean that pastel-y pants are in order. I picked these guys up from H&M when I should have been Christmas shopping but instead found some things for myself...oops. But they actually fit well and they have pockets for snacks, which amps up the potential for any garment.

These sneakers are my secret weapons and I love grinning mischievously when people ask where they're from. SKETCHERS! And then they're flabbergasted as I demonstrate how awesome they are by standing on my heels, which I probably shouldn't do because apparently that's a no-no in shoe etiquette, but I love it anyway. And because they're Sketchers, they're ultra comfy. I walked around all dat and lugged suitcases of fabric and garments and my feet were completely unharmed. Yay Sketchers!

I'm sorry about the picture quality and everything once more. I'm trying to resolve this issue without having to pay for a prime Flickr account, but I haven't found anything I've liked so far, so alas! I may just cast aside my frugality for the sake of ze blog and splurge. We'll see! photo DSCN1326_zps1fba3e1a.jpg photo DSCN1327_zpsa310b24d.jpg photo DSCN1329_zpsdbd07f28.jpg photo DSCN1325_zpsdda81bb8.jpg photo DSCN1333_zps2c6a0b9d.jpg photo DSCN1331_zps81ef769a.jpg photo DSCN1338_zps1dc8fbd4.jpg

Tomato, Potato.

 photo DSCN1295_zps24367064.jpg
Dress: Old Navy [$3.50]
Cardigan: Old Navy [$5]
Boots: Costco [a gift]
Backpack: Urban Outfitters [a gift[
----------------------
Total Cost: $8.50

Sorry for the darkness and blurriness of the photos. I realize now that it was pretty dark and I could have been normal and used flash, but honestly, I hate flash. And I was exhausted from work too, so that's the best for today!

The dress was a steal from Old Navy. I brought it to the register because it was tag-less, and when the kind woman told me the price, I definitely treated myself to a self-five. It reminds me of a tomato, which then reminds me of salsa, which makes me happy. And also of tomatoes in chili, which I have been consuming on an above-average level, but which also makes me happy. And now I shall help Andrea make enchiladas because: food fosters community and community is good. Therefore, enchiladas are good! That's the extent of my subpar Socratic logic, which I didn't do so well in, if you couldn't tell. Have a lovely night!

P.S. If anyone knows a good image hosting site that's free, please lemme know! photo DSCN1296_zps5480e0fc.jpg photo DSCN1299_zpsd5bda831.jpg photo DSCN1310_zpsd0ae4297.jpg photo DSCN1315_zps960fb201.jpg photo DSCN1320_zpsa5309083.jpg

Prints, Please.

DSCN1261
Coat: Marc New York [a gift]
Dress: H&M [$5]
XXL Blouse worn as top: Goodwill [$7]
Boots: Costco [a gift]
Watch: Timex [a gift]
-------------------
Total Cost: $12

This polka-dotted garment is one of my favorite things to wear. It's a plus-size blouse that I spotted (sorry, I'm cheesy) at Goodwill, but the print was awesome and I figured it could be versatile, and it has been most successful in that endeavor! I usually wear it as a dress and belt it up, but this time, I twisted the top and then tied the two ends in the back. Voila! I think I may have startled some people at school again, but alas! It was bound to happen eventually.

Scarf: F21? [a gift]
Belt: Target [$4]

Sorry for my lack of posting! It's due to being embarrassed to ask anyone other than Mary and Maddie to take pictures and also from the bitterly cold streak that's been presiding over the land for the past week that makes me want to do nothing other than cozy up in my Snuggie all day. I may look like a giant Elmo, but I'm telling myself that this is a good thing!

Today was the day to break out the pumpkin-hued sweater because it was time, and more importantly, because I had 10 minutes to spare after jumping out of the shower. I promise to have a more interesting outfit sometime in the near future, but for now, we'll just go with the tried-and-true combo that doesn't require much thought!

There was a tiny bit of snow left on the roof which was nice for the photo, but seconds later, my numb fingers were angry with the rash decision. Hooray for the slightly warmer weather though, I'll take as much as I can get! I hope y'all had a lovely weekend, let's take on this new week, shall we?DSCN1242 DSCN1246 DSCN1247 DSCN1250 DSCN1252 DSCN1254 DSCN1255

Sorry for the appearance of frozen limbs, it was so cold I couldn't think straight. Being from California, anything below 55 degrees is freezing. Yeah, I realize it's wimpy, but 18 degree weather should not be normal. I cannot accept it!

But on a different note, I started my first day on the internship today! I worked with finished garments and fabric swatches all day, and although it was monotonous, it was great. The thought of sitting behind a desk all day staring at numbers makes me shudder, it's just not for me. What I like about fashion is that there's so much going on and changing every day. And although it's a crazy crazy industry and I don't know how long I want to be involved in it, I feel really blessed to have the opportunity to be involved in such a cool production process. So onwards we shall press!DSCN1135 DSCN1139 DSCN1138 DSCN1134 DSCN1132

Party Pants

DSCN1124
Coat: Abercrombie&Fitch [a gift]
Sweater: F21 [$5]
Pants: Urban Outfitters [$5]
Boots: thrifted but from Target [$5]
Backpack: Urban Outfitters [a gift]
Scarf: H&M [a gift]
------------
Total Cost: $15

Normally I would have taken off my coat and scarf, but it's currently 19 degrees of frigid outside and all I wanted was to go in and drink hot chocolate!

These pants were the star of the show today. They're really shiny, and according to my sister, it looked like I was wearing blue leather pants from afar. Which I am very much okay with. People at school didn't really know what to think about them though, which was very understandable yet altogether amusing. I picked them up on Saturday when Urban Outfitters had their 50% Off All Sale sale, which is pretty much the only time I shop at Urban, since I don't like to spend more than $10 on anything. I'm so frugal it's terrible sometimes. But at this stage in my life, I sadly care about quantity more than quality!DSCN1118 DSCN1119 DSCN1120 DSCN1122 DSCN1127 DSCN1128

Business As Usual

DSCN1106
Stupid wayward piece of hair! Ah well, that's as good as it's gonna get.

This is the outfit I wore to my internship interview earlier today, whoohoo! The dress is super comfy and the bracelet makes me feel like a space warrior: two goals that any outfit should strive for.

Have a wonderful Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
