Dress: Broadway & Broome [a gift from work]
Shoes: Old Navy via Goodwill [$6]
Earrings: Urban Outfitters [$2.50]

On my last day of work, I got to pick one item to keep. I was looking for a dress that I could wear to my old volleyball coach's wedding, something light and summery. After searching through rows and rows of beautiful garments and trying on dresses in vain, I finally found this gorgeous silk Broadway & Broome dress, a Madewell brand. Not only did it hit my frame perfectly, but the cutout back is sickkk. It's way more cool in person, these pictures don't really do it justice. I'll try to get better photos of it in due time, perhaps at ze beach!  photo DSCN3976_zpsfe8298f5.jpg photo DSCN3981_zpsee4b94de.jpg

I realize this is not the most flattering of photos, but I like the fact that I'm running through so much greenery. I'll post the rest of the photos soon!

Olive Attire

 photo DSCN3946_zpsa87b2eca.jpg
Dress: Uniqlo [$10]
Sneakers: Vans [a Christmas present from olden times]
Belt: thrift store [25 cents]
Glitter nail polish: Urban Outfitters [50 cents]

Welcome to California! Orange County, to be more exact. Hopefully when the boy is done with school we can take more exciting photos, but for now, we'll stick to the proximity of my humble abode with my little sister manning the camera.

I bought this dress with my baby sister at the Uniqlo store on 5th Ave, right before we left NY. Man oh man, that place. That place is nuts. It's a monster store, the flagship of New York, and it's like this maze of a palace, with pristine and colorful garments all lined up and waiting to be rifled through. It's both terrifying and surreal, and of course, I made a beeline towards any sign with SALE emblazoned a'top.  This T-shirt maxi dress is just about the easiest thing to wear and I've had to regulate its wearing to only once a week. This sneaker on the other hand, have been my constant companion over the years. A nice pair of classic white sneakers can't go wrong and are the perfect complement to any summer outfit.  photo DSCN3969_zps5033bb31.jpg photo c50196d8-2d7e-48d6-b625-3b467898fa8e_zps21317df5.jpg photo 55673c8c-ceb8-4985-ab17-2907b85bf78d_zps51a793e0.jpg photo DSCN3971_zpsaab68c4c.jpg

DUMBO Pt. 2: The Brooklyn Bridge Park

Part Two of DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Brooklyn Overpass) and The Brooklyn Bridge Park will now commence with a short series of photographs (once again by my mom) and even shorter commentary (from yours truly):

The Manhattan Bridge again, with the Williamsburg Bridge in the back. I once was walking beside the bridge when I stumbled into a wedding ceremony happening on the small beach in the back left. It was nice until the train came a'roarin overhead every four minutes and drowned out every trace of audio. Still, congrats to the happy couple! photo 28ac732f-3bd4-4feb-b5e7-522dabede0d0_zps21d1f3b3.jpg photo fcdd0771-4a1c-4ddc-8313-9bb6be9565e8_zps265acc12.jpgIt's only $2/ride for Jane's Carousel! The Brooklyn Bridge with Downtown Manhattan in the distance. The tall tower with the crane is Tower One, officially the tallest building in New York. If this view looks familiar, it's because they shoot a bazillion movies in this area.

DUMBO Pt. 1

 photo DSCN0912_zps1605503b.jpg
Blouse: Urban Outfitters [clothing exchange]
Shorts: Old Navy from forever ago [$15]
Flats: Urban Outfitters [$5]

This little brick-walled haven is probably one of the coolest parts of DUMBO. Not that DUMBO's too big in the first place, but there's so much that occurs within these walls that it's quite impressive. The day before they had a Norah Jones concert, there's always some kind of photoshoot going on, and every Sunday afternoon is Smorgasbord, the ideal food festival for hipsters and connoisseurs. My family all came in to watch Mary graduate and we walked them over to the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. I've got more scenic photos that will be appearing shortly, but here's some photos of the Dais and I to appease you.

Sheer Thing

 photo DSCN3899_zpsfb33572c.jpg
Blouse: Foreign Exchange [clothing exchange]
Jeans: GAP [clothing exchange]
Cami bra: F21 [$5]
Flats: F21 [$15]

I've gotten so much use out of this cami-bra. I'm all for layering but undershirts can just be annoying sometimes, and in the summer, even thinking about adding another shirt on seems absurd. So cue the trumpets for this sports bra/half camisole thing! I wear it with everything. Everything. And for five bucks and pop with a multitude of colors, there's really nothing to lose. I also got these flats from F21 my first summer in New York. As evidenced by the worn toes, flapping soles, and duct taped bottom, they've led a pretty full life. But alas! I had to throw them out during the move. So now I'm on the hunt for a new pair of leopard flats to wear to shreds once more. Let the search commence! photo bd0eae64-f101-4552-92eb-4f74b3e840db_zps9a82b3d6.jpg photo 1be3277f-191f-43b6-af19-d94ea41f9e69_zps7c841f15.jpg photo DSCN3912_zpsaeca9034.jpg photo f939249a-114c-45a3-9996-14940989df6d_zps7a610d84.jpg photo 6ebdefe7-0f70-4ba5-b682-9139f046a0a1_zps848cbb77.jpg

Let's Keep It Light

 photo DSCN3870_zpse49f90ae.jpg
Blouse: Urban Outfitters [clothing exchange]
Pants: H&M [$7]
Shoes: Target [$7]
Backpack: Urban Outfitters [a gift from Dais]

Whenever I'm in a rush and don't have much time to think about outfits, I usually just throw on a dress and run out the door. But still, I always come back to this blouse and pair of pants because of their simplicity and ease. So I guess the obvious thing to do this way was put them together! I gotta finish posting all my New York pictures so I can start with the California ones. Maybe I'll use the post scheduling toolbar that's conveniently located on my screen right now. It looks harmless and trustworthy so I shall give it a whirl. More consistent posts, coming your way! photo 6cd48a83-5470-46c4-87c1-084342fb9b3a_zpsc7e65364.jpg photo DSCN3873_zpse8fa8680.jpg photo DSCN3884_zps83467e44.jpg photo 803d3dfb-4bbd-461f-9045-f50510cbab60_zpse4576109.jpg

Watermelon Candy Colors

 photo DSCN3481_zpsfd9332da.jpg
Shirt: Anthropologie [from clothing exchange]
Cardigan: The Webster Miami for Target [clothing exchange]
Jeans: GAP [clothing exchange]
Belt: Target [$5]
Boots: Piperlime [$40]

As evidenced, this entire outfit was courtesy of my friends. Well, specifically Kelly, but still! I look like a watermelon flavored Jolly Rancher, but sometimes it's necessary to dress like childhood candy in the midst of dark-hued New York attire. My hair was a mass of wayward strands because it was confined in a bun just prior to the following photos, so I apologize for its crazed state. But then again, what else is new! photo DSCN3484_zps1236ea7b.jpg photo 18fc42fa-6229-4169-9359-9044eb6b4d93_zps9fe23d16.jpg

Lima Bean Green

 photo DSCN3491_zps8dcda0f1.jpg
Blazer: Urban Outfitters [a gift]
Blouse: Old Navy [$5]
Jeans: Marshall's [$20]
Shoes: Sketchers [$20]
Earrings: Urban Outfitters [$2.50]

Sorry for the absence of posts again, for the past few days I've been on my hands and knees packing and cleaning my apartment to move out. But finally, here I am writing from CALIFORNIA! Cue warm sunshine and endless amounts of milk tea! I have a lot of pictures to post on here, so it may be an onslaught of outfit til I catch up, so stay tuned. This blouse is an awesome shade of lima bean green that adds a nice pop of color to an otherwise black ensemble. And to make it less stuffy again, I added these cool earrings I picked up at Urban last winter. You can't see it too well, but there's this cool crystal dagger-type thing that dangles in the middle and makes me look way cooler than I am. Anyhow, it's time to enjoy this first real day of summer in the comfort of my bed whilst watching Pride and Prejudice. Have a great one! photo DSCN3492_zpsaa4b2a05.jpg photo 7caa2c79-6414-4408-b725-0f03e68a024d_zps6b70467e.jpg photo DSCN3494_zps07aac26e.jpg

I know this little analogy is overused, but I felt like it was appropriate in this situation. Finals are over, the sun is out, the Phamily is here, tomorrow Mary's graduating, back to California on Monday. Let's do this thing. ReadySteadyGo!

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters [a gift]
Blouse: Old Navy [$5]
Cami bra: F21 [$5]

Sorry I've been M.I.A., I've been studying for finals and trying to combat a wretched cold/allergy attack. I'll be back in due time, promise! For now, enjoy the mismatched reindeer socks and don't forget to drink a lot of fluids.

Polyvore-ing

Pops of Aqua

Leon & Harper long sleeve cotton shirt, $115 / Madewell asymmetrical skirt / Sole Society shoes / Nypd, $78

Polyvore is such a cool site, sometimes I stay on for an hour at a time putting outfits together. Sure, I'll never be able to afford anything, but I guess that's the beauty of it too! So here's a set to show you what I would be wearing today if I had money and didn't fall down in heels. Happy Sunday!

Dress: hand me down [a gift]
Zip-up hoodie: Uniqlo [$10]
Jacket: Target [a gift]
Boots: Costco [a gift]
Sunnies: F21 [$4]
Backpack: High Sierra via Costco [a gift]

On a typical day, I lug my backpack around everywhere I go. I remember when everyone used to bring cute bags to class in high school and I just stared (while heaving my trusty Jansport over my shoulder) and wondered how they could fit all their books into such dainty satchels. Fast forward a few years and alas! I'm still the same way. I feel bad for hitting people on the subway with the colossus that is on my back, but I figure I'm a student so maybe they'll be a little more forgiving. Hopefully. So basically this just tells you that I'm just about the furthest things away from coolness. Oh well, what else is new! Have a lovely weekend y'all. ONE WEEK TIL MY FAMILY IS HERE!

Dress: borrowed from Jo
Belt: borrowed from Jo
Earrings: H&M [$1.50]
Bracelet: Urban Outfitters [$2.50]
Shoes: Target [$8]

These ladies are mighty pretty. I've worked with them all year on the exec team and it's been awesome. Anyhow, I've never been one to buy new dresses for a fancy occasion. Mostly because I'm too frugal to spend money on nice things. Plus, my friends have fantastic dress collections that need a little sunshine now and then! I loved the color of this dress, it was so spring-y and wonderful. Jo said her belt would go perfect with it too, and by golly it  sure did. And because I'm me and it wouldn't be a complete outfit if something wasn't slightly off, I added the H&M neon earrings and rose-gold bangle. Maybe it doesn't exactly match, but I'm still a firm believer in fashion being fun. And with Shake Shack, dessert goodness, and dancing with some great friends, fun it certainly was.  photo 2966d646-c393-415a-bbc5-4ec296d673db_zps4a78c7c1.jpg photo DSCN3434_zps40a4a3ba.jpg photo 33434ade-3d87-4b27-a985-235b966a8dac_zpsfadc7c88.jpg photo 393ee305-8d9e-407c-8080-f1f8492f9dbc_zps2f400db0.jpg
