The wall on the elementary school across from my house is ladden with ceramic tiles painted by ridiculously artistic little kids. And I thought it was proper to jump in from of the aforementioned wall because Independence day was upon us and also because the school's on summer break so I'm finally allowed to do it. I suppose the only proper way to casualize a pencil skirt is to pair it with a pair of ratty old sneakers and the tried and true white tee. Yeah, that seems about right to me. Enjoy your Sunday!

Sorry for the blurred and dark photos, I hate flash but still wanted to take pictures. I got these kicks from Kathy last summer with the intention of wearing it more than once but I've failed miserably on that mission. Although I love sneakers, I've come to realize that only those of the white variety will ever land into my wardrobe. Simply, well, because I like white shoes. A lot. But these babies are fun to break out of hibernation every once in awhile.

I got this skirt while online shopping in the dead of winter. For a second, my mind was flooded with visions of sand and palm trees and fish tacos, so I had to get it. Plus it was $4. Plus it has tiny surfer dudes on it. Plus the pattern is slightly atrocious and dizzying and awesome.

For some reason, I've been into big billowy silhouettes that hint at the slightest bit of form in them. And white too, because wearing white makes me look tanner and I'm forever in a constant battle with my sisters on who is darkest. So far, I've lost every bout. I've got a good feeling about this summer though.

I hope you all had a lovely Independence Day! I spent mine eating Vietnamese food in the morning, at Ken's grandma's in the afternoon, and fighting Huntington Beach traffic in the evening. And although I get some road rage towards the end, the fireworks get me every time.

Casualing and playing catch with the boy. I'm a lazy bum most of the time, but Ken drags me out to play sports with him. And although I protest, my skills in baseball, frisbee, and football have improved dramatically, which is not too bad if I do say so myself.
